Schoolcraft County Court Docket Searches
Start with the official Schoolcraft D93 MiCOURT route. It is the fastest public index for district matters. Traffic cases, civil infractions, misdemeanors, preliminary felony proceedings, and district civil cases all sit there. Need a different Michigan court? MiCOURT's statewide case-search entry point lets you pick it when the record is not a D93 matter. Remember that results are informational. A filing, order, or final disposition should still be confirmed with the clerk who keeps the official file.
Have the party's exact first and last name ready, plus a likely filing year and the court or case number if known. The name search needs both names and rejects wildcard characters. Case-number queries use a year, a required number, and sometimes an optional case type. Filters include status, category, filed date, and offense date. A blank result has many causes. The court may be wrong, the spelling off, a filter too narrow, or the case transferred, restricted, past retention, or beyond the portal.
- Identify whether the Schoolcraft County matter is district, circuit, or probate.
- Open MiCOURT and choose the D93 route for district, traffic, and civil-infraction cases.
- Search with the full party name or with the case year and case number.
- Read the public case history for the court, status, next hearing, and event sequence.
- Call or contact the correct Schoolcraft County clerk for an official file, copy, or date confirmation.
Start With the Schoolcraft D93 MiCOURT Route
The D93 route narrows the hunt to one court. It targets the local district bench. That is where a citation, misdemeanor, small-claims matter, eviction, garnishment, civil case, or preliminary felony record most likely sits. MiCOURT shows public name and case-number searches, with visible categories for civil, criminal, traffic and civil infractions, and probate. Juvenile visibility is limited. Case type and access rules decide it.
The county's Schoolcraft County government directory maps the county-office structure supporting the court routes.
For a Schoolcraft County docket search, treat the office directory as a routing aid. It can't replace a public case history or the clerk's file.
Court Dockets: What They Show
A Schoolcraft County docket is the court's running case history. Michigan materials often call it a register of actions. The public MiCOURT interface returns identifying and scheduling fields. Open a case detail view and you may see events plus other public components. Not every field appears in every case, though. A public index never guarantees a document image.
| Case ID and title | The court-assigned identifier and portal label for the parties or matter. |
|---|---|
| Filed date and status | When the Schoolcraft County case opened and a public grouping such as open, adjudicated, disposed, or closed. |
| Parties and court | Public party rows and the court location that holds the case record. |
| Events and hearings | Case-history entries, a next-hearing field where populated, and hearing information available to the public. |
| Charges or financial fields | Publicly rendered charge, disposition, balance, assessment, or order fields when applicable. |
| Disposition | How a charge or case ended, which should be verified against the controlling order when legal meaning matters. |
MiCOURT offers a local format clue. It displays patterns such as 2018 / 1818003SC / SC. Treat those as interface examples only, not Schoolcraft County sample cases, and no promise that every division numbers cases the same way.
Schoolcraft Case History Is Not the Official File
MiCOURT is a handy Schoolcraft County public index. It also carries a warning. Results are informational. A result may show a balance, event, charge, or status yet omit filed papers or the context that explains a disposition. For a judgment, certified order, complete register of actions, or any document not displayed online, ask the court clerk holding the case.
- Register of actions
- The chronological court event and filing history, which may be only partly visible online.
- Filed date
- The date a case opened in the court system, not necessarily the incident, service, or judgment date.
- Bindover
- A felony's movement from the district preliminary stage to circuit court.
- Closed
- A public administrative status that does not itself say how or when the case ended.
- Balance
- A portal financial field that should be verified with the Schoolcraft County clerk or payment office.
The portal uses hCaptcha as well. A lawful Schoolcraft County search means using the public interface normally, never repeated automated queries or any workaround aimed at that control.
Schoolcraft County Courts and Their Dockets
Schoolcraft County lists three local trial-court paths. They are the 11th Judicial Circuit Court, the 93rd Judicial District Court, and the 5th Judicial Probate Court. The Family Division is part of circuit court, not a fourth tier. Choose wrong, ask the wrong clerk. The court named at the start of a Schoolcraft County docket search decides which clerk keeps the official record. The county's court directory lists all three paths.
The three courts share the courthouse but not the files.
| Court | Docket Covers | Where to Search |
|---|---|---|
| 93rd Judicial District Court | Traffic and civil infractions, misdemeanors, preliminary felony proceedings, civil matters up to $25,000, small claims, evictions, and garnishments. | MiCOURT D93 route, then the D93 clerk in Room 135. |
| 11th Judicial Circuit Court | Felonies after bindover, major civil matters, review matters as provided by law, and Family Division cases. | MiCOURT when available, then Circuit Court or County Clerk staff in Room 164. |
| 5th Judicial Probate Court | Estates, trusts, guardianships, conservatorships, mental-health, probate, and juvenile matters assigned by law. | MiCOURT when publicly indexed, then the Probate Register in Room 129. |
When a Schoolcraft Case Moves to Circuit Court
A Schoolcraft County felony often starts at D93. The complaint and preliminary stage happen there. After bindover, it moves to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court. That shift is why an older district result is never the whole felony history. Search the circuit route once a case passes the preliminary proceeding. Or call the Circuit Court clerk.
Michigan Court Rule 8.119 adds a wrinkle. It affects public access to a district or municipal record. That applies to cases bound over to circuit on or after July 2, 2024. There, the circuit record is the practical Schoolcraft County record to verify. One stage may sit public in another court. A case that looks incomplete may just be split across courts.
Court Dates and Settings in Schoolcraft County
Checking a Schoolcraft County hearing? Start with MiCOURT's public next-hearing field, then the statewide MiCOURT CourtDisplay. CourtDisplay offers date controls and public rows for party name, time, room, and case number. It is a calendar view only. It is not a complete docket or a filed order.
The county posts no stable calendar URL, daily docket PDF, or calendar feed on its official pages. Confirm case number, party role, date, time, room, judge, proceeding type, and any change of setting with the right clerk. Phone numbers help. D93 is 906-341-3630, Circuit Court is 906-341-3655, and Probate is 906-341-3641. Call for current counter hours.
Schoolcraft CourtDisplay Needs Date Confirmation
An empty CourtDisplay date is not proof that Schoolcraft County has no hearings. The display you inspected covered one chosen date, nothing more. So treat a blank result as a gap, not an answer. The hearing you want may sit on a different date. It may show up in the case history. Or it may appear only after you pick the correct court.
Use the calendar as a first check, then confirm with the court. The clerk can tell you whether an event is in person or virtual. The clerk can also say whether it was adjourned, and whether a later order moved the time or room. A calendar row has real limits. It will not reliably show the hearing type. It also skips the full event history and any final disposition.
Docket Access Under Michigan Law
Michigan court-record rules govern Schoolcraft County files. There is no general promise that every document sits online. The default is openness. Public court records are available for inspection and copying unless a law, rule, or order restricts them. Expect the public search to omit protected, juvenile, sealed, suppressed, mental-health, adoption, name-change, personal-protection, and other restricted material.
Michigan access rules for Schoolcraft County records:
MCR 8.119 requires court-record maintenance and sets the framework for public inspection, copying, sealing, and electronic case history.
MCR 1.109 defines court records and requires protection of specified personal identifying information.
MCL 15.232(h)(iv) excludes court records from Michigan FOIA, so the county form is not the ordinary route for a judicial case file.
MCL 600.2546 is cited in state standards for certified-copy charges, subject to current clerk confirmation.
If a file is restricted, ask the Schoolcraft County clerk which rule or procedure controls it. The clerk is the right office for that answer. And keep in mind that a name or case row in a public index never authorizes disclosure of protected identifiers or sealed documents.
Schoolcraft FOIA Requests and Court Files Differ
The Schoolcraft County FOIA form handles county administrative records, not judicial files. Think county policies and meeting documents, the material FOIA actually covers. The form lets you choose inspection, copies, certified copies, or delivery. It sets a five-business-day response period. A ten-business-day extension is possible. None of that creates a shortcut around judicial case-file access or a sealing order.
For a Schoolcraft County court document, be ready to name the court and the case number. Also name the document, the format, and whether you need certification. For county administrative material, use the official FOIA form and follow its process. Keeping the two routes straight helps the recipient route your request. It sends your request to the office that actually holds the record.
How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records
In Schoolcraft County, clerk duties split by court. The County Clerk and Circuit Clerk staff maintain circuit and family filings. The D93 clerk handles district civil, traffic, and criminal records. Probate and juvenile records sit with the Probate Register. Start with MiCOURT when a public index helps. Then give the right clerk the case number, party names, filing year, document, format, and certification request.
State standards allow a reasonable reproduction charge. Inspection of a public record carries no charge. Schoolcraft County posts no readable court-copy fee table. State guidance points to $1 per page plus $10 certification under MCL 600.2546. A filed transcript copy has a maximum of $0.90 per page under MCL 600.2543. Confirm every current local fee, delivery method, and appointment rule with the specific clerk.

Schoolcraft Filing Technology Is Not Docket Access
Michigan MiFILE, also called TrueFiling, is an account-based system for filing and service. It is not the Schoolcraft County public docket. Registration asks for account and court-selection information. MiCOURT is the public case-search route. A MiFILE login should never be assumed to supply a court-history search. The live MiFILE available-courts directory displays Manistique 93-2 District Court and Schoolcraft Probate Court.
Treat that live directory as a filing lead only. Schoolcraft County e-filing availability still deserves a check with the clerk, since the live display and the statewide PDF list do not align perfectly.
Schoolcraft Regional Court Programs Stay With Their Cases
Schoolcraft County takes part in regional court administration. The Eastern Upper Peninsula Mental Health Court serves Alger, Luce, and Schoolcraft. Its official FY2024 report lists 21 active participants. Those participants are in the Schoolcraft/Alger regional adult district mental-health court. That is program context, not a list of people or a separate public docket database. The Schoolcraft County agenda and notices archive includes a 2024 board packet. It documents annual-report presentations by D93 and Family Division or Probate participants.
Those Schoolcraft County administrative materials can shed light on local court operations. But the underlying treatment, probation, juvenile, and mental-health records may carry access limits.
City-by-City Court Dockets in Schoolcraft County
Schoolcraft County has one incorporated city, Manistique. Its 2020 Census population is 2,828. The county's other named places are townships and rural localities. There are no additional incorporated cities and no separately listed municipal courts. A city-administration record belongs with the City Clerk. A judicial case belongs with D93, Circuit Court, or Probate, depending on the case type.
Manistique Court Records
Only incorporated city in Schoolcraft County; judicial matters are routed to the relevant county court clerk.
The official city, county, and live MiCOURT directories list no separate Manistique municipal court. So do not assume one exists. Before filing or searching, confirm the venue for a city-ordinance matter with the Manistique City Clerk and D93.
Schoolcraft Federal Cases Use a Different Docket
A federal civil or criminal matter tied to Schoolcraft County has no home in MiCOURT. The federal route runs through the Western District of Michigan, Northern Division. The Marquette location serves the Upper Peninsula. After registering, search through PACER Case Locator. A courthouse public-access terminal works too, where one is available. CourtListener or RECAP can serve as a free research lead when a filing has been contributed. A gap there does not prove a federal record is absent. The PACER fee page describes the current remote-access structure.
PACER fees apply only to the federal docket. They never touch a Schoolcraft County case-history search in MiCOURT. For Upper Peninsula matters, the Western District of Michigan Marquette location lists the Northern Division court contact, and that page shows the details you need to reach the right desk.
Marquette is the starting point for federal matters out of Schoolcraft County. The federal docket there runs on CM/ECF. The Western District CM/ECF court information page explains how that electronic docket works and how its case numbers are built.
CM/ECF handles filing and PACER handles public access, and the two stay separate. MiFILE works the same way, apart from a Schoolcraft County public case search.
Map and Directions to the Schoolcraft County Courthouse
The 11th Circuit Court, the 93rd District Court, and the 5th Judicial Probate Court are all in the same downtown civic building at 300 Walnut Street in Manistique, the county seat. The county's master plan describes the courthouse as built in 1976 with an addition completed in the late 1990s. Inside, Circuit Court is in Room 164, the 93rd District Court is in Room 135, and Probate Court is in Room 129, so the case type points to the floor and door.
